Tonny Tromborg Sørensen’s Qualia series captures the meditative power of horizons, where light, time, and consciousness converge. Spending consecutive winters by the ocean, Sørensen harnesses the ethereal beauty of dawn—an ephemeral moment between darkness and illumination. Using exposures lasting up to 20 minutes and layering hundreds of images, his works transcend photography, transforming the horizon into an abstract meditation on time and perception. Inspired by pioneers like Gustave Le Gray and Hiroshi Sugimoto, Sørensen’s art invites viewers to immerse themselves in the indescribable—a journey beyond place or detail, into the realm of the infinite.
