ONELINERS - FROM THE PERIPHERY
SEAN PAUL McCLUSKEY 11 Jan - 9 Feb 2025 Sean Paul McCluskey’s work occupies a delicate space between spontaneity and intention, where intuition takes the lead. Known for his small-scale compositions in acrylic, watercolor, ink, and collage, McCluskey approaches his craft not as a painter or artist in the traditional sense, but as a navigator charting the ephemeral thoughts and images that emerge through his process. His work, often revisited and reworked, becomes a dialogue with the materials at hand—a meditative exploration of painterly genres, including still lifes, portraits, and landscapes.
There’s a quiet humor in McCluskey’s practice, a subtle irony that reflects his multifaceted background. Originally from Scotland, his creative journey has been shaped by years spent in France, Russia, Ghana, and, for the past 25 years, Denmark. This geographic tapestry lends his work a global sensibility while remaining rooted in an intimate and deeply personal narrative.
McCluskey’s artistic world is not limited to visual forms. With a history of working with the written word and collaborating on album covers for The Aliens and Peter Sommer, as well as performing with The Beta Band, he bridges disciplines effortlessly. His art, much like his life, is a celebration of connection—between genres, mediums, and experiences.
In this exhibition, McCluskey invites us to witness the organic evolution of his creative process. Each piece serves as a glimpse into the landscapes of his mind, offering a playful yet profound reflection on what it means to create without an agenda, to let the art reveal itself in its own. Manuel Alberto Claro 2 Jun - 31 Aug 2024 Samuel - In the serene ambiance of DetVideHus Café, a compelling narrative unfolds through the exhibition "Samuel," a photographic voyage charting the growth of a boy from his first breath to his steps into adolescence. This narrative began on January 17, 2009, with the birth of Samuel, son of Manuel Alberto Claro—a name acclaimed in the circles of cinematography. The luminary behind the lens now invites us into a world where personal moments are captured with the same profound depth and dramatic intuition he imparts to the silver screen.
